ZINC NICKEL ELECTROPLATING

With regulatory and performance requirements becoming stricter by the day, product manufacturers are on the lookout for protective coatings that meet the stringent quality standards. Zinc nickel plating is one of the most effective protective coatings for products and applications that are highly susceptible to corrosion. This includes automotive, agricultural & construction equipment, aerospace and more.

Alliance Electroplaters specialises in high-volume Zinc Nickel plating in Melbourne, done to international standards. Zinc nickel plating is performed via a process which is similar to the way zinc coatings are applied, yet it is better and more effective than the latter.

Zinc nickel plating offers incredibly high corrosion protection and more wear resistance in moving parts that generate intense friction.

Composition

Zinc nickel coating is composed of 85% zinc and 15% nickel, which is directly applied on the substrate. The Zn-Ni layer is covered by a layer of chromate topped by a sealant for better resistance.

Benefits

Zinc-nickel coating is 2-3 times more resistant against corrosion, as compared to Zinc-only coatings. Moreover, the uniform single structure of this alloy forms a consistent layer across the surface, which offers better protection against corrosion as compared to cadmium coatings.

Zinc nickel alloy is not only corrosion-resistant but also prolongs the life of the part being plated. Here’s how. The consistent layer of zinc nickel alloy eliminates surface irregularities, which helps reduce friction between moving parts, which results in less wear and tear.

Zinc nickel coating demonstrates high degree of thermal-stress resistance, which makes it the best option for electroplating engine components with extremely high operating temperatures.

Why should you consider Zn-Ni coating?

Zn-Ni coating is ideal for automotive, construction, agricultural and aerospace applications where corrosion protection is crucial. While it is widely being used by leaders in the automotive industry, manufacturers of electrical and agricultural equipment are looking to embrace this method to add value and life to their products.

Alliance Electroplaters provides Zn-Ni plating in Melbourne for a variety of applications. Using state-of-the-art equipment and techniques, we ensure a quality product, small turnaround and highly competitive pricing.

Our Finishes and Services

Zinc Electroplating

Zinc Electroplating provides corrosion resistance to the steel component by acting as a barrier and a sacrificial coating.

Zinc Nickel

Zinc nickel plating offers incredibly high corrosion protection and more wear resistance in moving parts that generate intense friction.

Barrel Nickle Plating

Barrel nick plating is essential for applications where corrosion protection is mandatory.

Florentine Bronze

Florentine Bronze is a very versatile finish which can be applied to every metal to give them a ‘raw’ finish and add a protective layer of coating.

Pickle & Oil

Pickling is the treatment of metallic objects to remove dust, scale, rust, and other impurities from their surface.

Dip Spin Coatings

Dip spin coating method is applicable to most parts, there are different coatings available from clear coats, colours and torques friction coatings.

Hydrogen De-Embrittlement

During the cleaning and acid pickling process of electroplating, atomic hydrogen can be absorbed through the surface of the metal component

Metal Coating Thickness Testing

Metal coatings are an essential component for protecting the objects from corrosion and other damages.

Salt Spray Testing

Neutral Salt Spray Testing is a common method to check the corrosion resistance of objects over time.
